Changes, changes

It's Mother's Day! We just got new cameras for each of the kids rooms that we can watch over the internet. Earlier today when we put Vivi down for a nap, we heard a loud BOOM. We ran upstairs and she was out of her crib! This was the first time she had EVER escaped. She was ok - no injuries. We talked to her and told her how unsafe it was to jump out of the crib, never ever to do it again. We put her back in and 3 minutes later, I saw her jump out of the crib on the video. I was too late - she had a major bruise on her nose (it looked like she had just gotten a nose job). Chase spent the rest of today making her crib into a toddler bed and baby proofing her room.

As I held her crying from her injury, she looked up at me and I saw her sweet face, just like when she was an infant. I forgot she had been a baby just like Beau. Now she's grown up. I mean, not all grown up by any means, but she's not my baby anymore. She watched my face as I cried looking at her, trying to understand.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to her growning up. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us. I imagine her as an elementary aged kid, making up creative stories, playing with her spunky energy. I imagine her as a middle school aged kid, all angsty. I imagine her as a high school aged kid, experiencing love, friendship, freedom. I imagine her getting married, having kids. I can't wait for these things - I want to experience them all!

I just want to see her in that crib one last time.
